ZENNER gas meters receive MID certification

The new gas meters from ZENNER, developed for the European and specifically the German markets, have received approval in accordance with the European MID (Measuring Instruments Directive) in September 2022. The new meters will be presented to the industry at the Enlit 2022 international trade fair in Frankfurt.

The issues of sustainability as well as saving energy and costs are currently top of the agenda for municipal and public utilities, energy suppliers and industry. This also affects measuring technology, which must meet ever-increasing requirements in terms of precision, quality and cost-effectiveness.

ZENNER International GmbH & Co. KG has been supplying municipal utilities and suppliers with innovative measuring technology for more than one hundred years and is now one of the largest gas meter manufacturers worldwide. Today, ZENNER produces and sells more than four million gas meters on the international market every year.

In September 2022, ZENNER’s newly developed diaphragm gas meters in meter sizes G4 and G6 received approval in accordance with the MID European Measurement Instruments Directive 2014/32/EC in accordance with DIN EN 1359:2017. This means their entry onto the German and European markets is now imminent.

Regarding the new meters’ upcoming market launch, Dieter Sucietto, Gas Business Unit Manager at ZENNER, is confident that the new meters will do well: “I firmly believe that in the future, the total package will matter more than ever. A modern gas meter must be stable in the long-term and represent the highest technical quality and safety. In addition, it must have communication capabilities and be economically attractive at the same time. We are convinced that we will succeed in launching a meter that meets these requirements.”

ZENNER’s launch on the European gas meter market is set to cause quite a stir. “ZENNER already enjoys an excellent reputation in the energy industry as a manufacturer of water and heat meters, among other things. The industry is therefore responding very positively to the fact that ZENNER will now also enter this market,” explains Sucietto.

The new single- and twin-tube diaphragm meters will be presented at the international trade fair Enlit Europe, from 29 November to 1 December 2022 in Frankfurt, at the ZENNER booth number 12.1.B94.
